Describe something you will never fully understand.

 Prompt: One thing I will never fully understand is how a person can be treated so differently and like property for that matter, simply based on their beliefs, culture, and/or skin color. In our world's past, primarily people of darken skin tones originating in Africa, North and South America, etc. were subjected to Payless labor, racism, mistreatment and cruelty. One of the main justifications for this treatment was, social darwinism, a belief that survival of the fittest was a way of life and chattel slavery was just a byproduct of that. What I don't understand is why? What/Who gave Europeans in that time period the right to treat other people - of the same species- in such a way. Was it greed, economic desire, ignorance? the reason isn't very important. The important part is that we live in a society right now where we try to embrace outside culture and we continue to teach and try to be better in terms of acceptance based on race.

Summary: In class today we practiced writing claims and coming up with evidence to support them.

Reflection: In class to day we practiced thinking of evidence to support claims. This is valuable as I can learn to create strong pieces of evidence that support my claims and start thinking of reasons to back them up.

My background is Christian, leading me to believe that there is a heaven and a hell and one’s decisions during their life determine where they will be after passing. Describe a time you felt lost

 Prompt: I time I felt lost was when I moved away from my old house. That house was everything I'd ever known, from the carpeted upstairs level to the kitchen table i'd cut my nose on. Losing that feeling of home felt like nothing i'd ever felt before. But, with a little time, and support from my family, I quickly adjusted to my new lifestyle, neighborhood, and school. Without them, I would've felt lost for a much longer time. Summary: Today in class we talked about claims of fact, policy, and value and how to identify these claims from a text Reflection: Identifying claims is important to understand how arguments work. This is valuable information to note when writing my own arguments and deciphering other claims.

  Think about the word or phrase you find yourself using the most right now. What is it, what does it mean, and why has it become part of your everyday vocabulary? Explain when you typically use it and what your choice of this word or phrase might reveal about you. Prompt: The word that I use the most right now is most likely "Brother". The dictionary definition of the word brother is a male sibling sharing on or both parents as the person. However, it could also mean a person that you have a close relation with. I find myself using it a lot as a term to address my close friends, as well as an exclamation in reaction to an array of statements. I'm not quite sure what this would reveal about me but I do like what my use of the term shows about my relationship with my close friends.
